As I sit here trying to think of something to write about for this week’s blog post, I can’t help but dream about my Caramel Iced Macchiato with Extra Caramel Drizzle. Yep, that is my guilty pleasure. The reason I leave my house when I have no errands to run. The reason I spend too much money on coffee. Must I continue?
Anyways, it made me want to find excuses for this expensive addictive habit of mine. Other than the fact it is delicious, it just honestly makes me feel so good! So I decided to do this blog for 5 Reasons Coffee is Amazing.
Now before you skip ahead to some key points that will make you feel better about your Starbucks habit, keep in mind that the studies I researched were talking about BLACK coffee. The effects of coffee can also vary depending on your gender, race, age, and lifestyle, while the things you love about coffee may differ based on how your body feels as a result of your coffee consumption.
Unless you’re drinking decaffeinated coffee then you are consuming caffeine with each cup. Caffeine will be at its peaks in about 30-60 min (sometimes as little as 10min) after consumption. It will then last anywhere from 4-6 hours in your system.
It Raises your Metabolic rate & Burns fat!!
Caffeine often causes your energy level to raise but it will decreases with physical activity. So in times where you would typically be tired caffeine can help you to feel as if you have more energy than you actually do.
Improves your Focus
Caffeine is believed to work by stopping the neuron receptors that tell your brain to rest. In doing that it raises alertness, & energy.
Aids in Digestion
Coffee stimulates movement of the colonic muscles which is what causes bowel movements. Coffee helps push waste out of your body more quickly… that sounds like a win to me.
Lowers Stress and Fights Depression
Caffeine influences neuron transmitters like norepinephrine, dopamine, & acetylcholine which all have effects on your mood and how you process things. Believe it or not there was a study of over 200,000 people and it was found that those who drank more than3 cups of coffee per day were about 55% less likely to commit suicide.
*please note that too much caffeine can have the opposite effect and worsen anxiety.
